Happy Easter!

We had a very nice Easter together -- just the four us of this year.

Only one picture was taken -- we spent time hanging out together rather than taking pictures. The early service at church, yummy food, an indoor egg hunt for the boys and talking out our Resurrection Eggs filled up our day.

You might notice Sam's face looks a little lopsided. He had a pretty bad fall on his bike on Saturday afternoon. His face hit his handlebars, but thankfully nothing was broken. He was extremely swollen -- it looked like he had a golf ball in his cheek. He also had bruising that went from under his eye to his chin. He did think the black eye that showed up on Monday looked pretty cool. Boys!

Happy Easter! HE is risen!

Puzzle Prodigy

Zak has a puzzle he figured out how to put together all by himself. He has his own unique way of going about it -- but he gets it done every time!

He's pretty proud of himself!

Tiptoe Through The Tulips

Every year we say we're going to go to a nearby Tulip Festival -- and every year the weather just doesn't seem to cooperate with our schedule. Given our weather this year -- we just decided to go no matter what!

As soon as we started to head out into the tulip fields it started pouring rain! We made a quick run to the gift shop to wait it out. As soon as it cleared up, we headed back to the fields and had just enough time to look at the flowers before the next downpour started.

The most fascinating part of the whole experience was the loud and continuous booming sounds we heard. Matthew went to find out what the noise was all about and he got a really interesting answer. It was a machine that sent sound waves into the air that would break up hail storms so that the tulips were not crushed. They turned it on 25 minutes before a storm was supposed to hit. Very ingenious invention -- but I'm glad we weren't their neighbors!

The boys had a great time tromping in the dirt and chasing each other around -- plus we came home with really pretty flowers!

Eggs-ellent Job!

Sam and Zak were very excited to dye Easter eggs -- and they turned out so much better than last year. Thank goodness Sam was not interested in dipping each egg into every color!

The dipping begins!

Green was a favorite color choice.

Zak cracked a few eggs before
he got a handle on dipping them!

Pretty colors!

They would have liked to color more eggs -- but since they don't eat hard boiled eggs -- we had to limit it to how many Matthew and I could handle eating!

Visiting The Station

It had been a while since our last visit to Station 10 -- so we headed out there one Saturday when Matthew was working.

Sam brought a book on how to make paper airplanes, so while he was playing on the engine, Travis was working hard at making some really great planes to fly around the station. They were a hit!

Sam tried on Matthew's face
mask -- he wanted to go on air!

Zak's been asking to go on the pole.

They convinced Matthew to go
down the pole -- and they were excited!

It's always fun for the boys to hit their favorite spots in the station!

Going to the Airport Hangar

On Saturday we took a little drive out in the country to a small airport. In an airplane hangar we attended the wedding of Sam's Kindergarten teacher!

Crayons and coloring pages were
ready and waiting for the kids!

Zak and Sam with Mrs. Hennigan!

I've been randomly asking Sam, "What's your teacher's name?" -- getting him ready for when she returns to school!

It was a fun afternoon!

Spring Break Fun

While Sam was on Spring Break from school, we headed up to Grammie and Poppy's house for a visit.

April is a big birthday month in our extended family, so we had a pizza and ice cream party so we could all celebrate together.

Zak and Drew had fun hanging out!

Kate and Sam enjoying their ice cream!

It was a drippy few days in the Pacific Northwest, but Grammie found an indoor miniature golf course, so we hit the links! We didn't keep score, but I can tell you that Matthew, Poppy, Sam and I all got a hole-in-one. A couple of people got more than one -- including Sam!

Zak taking his shot. His preferred method is still to hit
the ball once and then pick it up and put it in the hole!

Poppy and Zak watching the action.

Poppy and Grammie usually take a Sunday afternoon drive to Baskin and Robbins -- and we were happy to go along! Sam picked chocolate right away. He's kind of a slow licker -- I told him he is never going to make it in the summer if doesn't start licking faster! Zak looked at all the flavors and said he wanted the green one. Doubtful that he really wanted mint chocolate chip, we got him a sample, which he willing ate but then wrinkled up his face in disgust. He ended up with vanilla with chocolate sprinkles.

More ice cream!

It was so nice to have a couple extra days to spend at Poppy and Grammie house. It was a great start to Spring Break!
