Hats Off to Zak!

While having dinner at a friends' house,
Zak found a cowboy hat.
He loved himself in that hat
and would have worn it home if he had his way!

So he had to be satisfied with this
substitute on the way home!

We Love Curious George!

On Sam's last day of Winter Break we headed off to the Children's Museum for the new Curious George exhibit. We read a lot of Curious George books at our house -- so the boys were very excited for their visit.

Cranking the rocks up -- Zak
could have done this all day!

Trying out the wind machine.

Future architect at work?

Quick pic with George.

Of course we ended our day in the water room -- where the boys proceeded to get thoroughly soaked!

We can't wait to go back again!

Sam's Next Bestseller

The excitement of snow prompted Sam to write his next book.

This one is a little fancier -- it includes the authors' name on the cover!

Rit Bi Sam -- I love it!

Very true-to-life illustrations!

Snow Day!

It was a perfect day for snow!

Sam is off of school this week so we had no where we had to be -- let it snow! We ended up with almost 4 inches and the boys were itching to get outside. The only downside was that Matthew was at work -- so it was up to Mom to teach the boys how to build a snowman, throw snowballs and make snow angels.

They were very excited about their snowman!
Sam knew exactly how he wanted to decorate him.

Zak loves snowballs! He thought it was
hilarious every time I pelted him with one!

Sam really wanted to shovel snow -- too bad
we didn't need our driveway shoveled.

So Zak had to try it too!

Making snow angels.

The boys played outside for a long time this morning and then came in for hot chocolate and toast. We spent our afternoon playing games -- Sam and I played a record eight games of Uno in a row -- and doing puzzles.

Sadly, the snowman has toppled and it doesn't look like we'll be getting anymore snow. But I know a couple of boys who wouldn't mind having another snow day!

Notes From Sam

Sam has taken to leaving me notes.

Getting my attention during quiet time in his room...

After a fun treat...

Who knows what will show up next!

Hot Off The Presses!

Sam wrote his first book this morning!

He didn't ask for any help with spelling, which is a first. He is always very careful about getting it right -- and it was great that he was feeling confident enough to do it all by himself.

That being said...I'll translate for you!

(Click on the pictures to read the words more easily).

Title: Tigger & Pooh

Pooh & Tigger were friends.
They were going camping in the woods.
Pooh brought the tent. Tigger brought the food.
They set up the tent.
They went in the tent and fell asleep at once.

The next morning Pooh woke early.
Tigger woke late.
Let's take our boat to the lake, said Pooh.
Alright, said Tigger.

Pooh & Tigger on the lake.

Sam read his new book for Zak.

I'm sure there will be a sequel!
